Home Matters!

With Neighborhood Housing Services of South Buffalo’s Help,
Momentum Builds Nationally for Home Matters

Momentum is building impressively across the country for Home Matters™, the national movement that NHS of South Buffalo helped launch on March 12th in Washington, DC. The movement aims to build public support for the essential role that Home plays as the bedrock for thriving lives, communities, and a stronger nation. In just over one month, Home Matters has become a topic of discussion from coast to coast:

  • People are talking about Home Matters: here’s Shaun Donovan, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development, on “Why Home Matters”;
  • People are writing about Home Matters: here are two of many op-ed articles – one by Jackie Mayo of Knox Housing Partnership in Tennessee and one by Roy Nash of NeighborWorks Waco in Texas;
  • People are creating videos about Home Matters: here are two – one by Community Housing Partners in Virginia and one by Community Frameworks in Washington.

These are just a few of many examples of the momentum that we could highlight, along with dozens and dozens of logos, including ours, on the Home Matters website, a growing Home Matters presence on social media, and countless references to Home Matters in emails, online posts, speeches, and conversations taking place all across the nation.

We hope that you will become part of that conversation by doing the following:

  • Visit www.HomeMattersAmerica.com and share your insights about what “Home is…”
  • Sign up for the Home Matters newsletter by clicking “Sign up” when you visit the site;

As it expands, Home Matters will go beyond housing and illuminate the connections between stable housing and other important facets of American life such as individual success, education, health, public safety, and a strong economy.

Home Matters is off to a terrific start! With your help, we can change the national conversation about Home. We can help all of America understand that Home Matters.
