It is
officially the dog days of summer. With school out for another month and a half,
you might be at your wit’s end trying to come up with activities to keep the
youngsters occupied. Or you might want to have even more fun at your weekend
barbecues and pool parties. Here are some fun activities for the backyard and
around town!
If you
have a some room in your backyard, games are always a great way to break up the
monotony of the summer. Whether you play some cornhole or Kan-Jam, ladder golf
or horseshoes, volleyball or t-ball, there are lots of fun and fairly
inexpensive backyard games to be had. For those who want to build something,
how about backyard Ker-Plunk or Scrabble? See the links below for instructions
on how to build lots of different games for backyard fun!
Of
course there’s lots more to do in summer than play games that require
equipment. You can play hide and seek in the dark. Catch fireflies. Teach your
kids how to garden and compost. Go for walks with them and see how many
different trees, bugs, flowers, birds, etc. you can name. Keep your kids
active. There is an undeniable growing obesity epidemic in this country. Even
if there is possibility of breaking bad habits when you’re older, there’s no
better time than childhood to instill healthy habits.
We’re
lucky to live in Buffalo where there is plenty of concerts, festivals, and
fairs going on all summer. Check out the links below to the area’s main
