Neighborhood Housing Services of
South Buffalo is excited to be taking part of a national project through
NeighborWorks, of which we are a charter member. We are going to be hitting the
pavement in the coming weeks!
Last fall, we began planning to join the
nationwide Community Impact Measurement Project. You may have recently gotten a
flyer from us inside your Metro. If so, you are in our target area! We are
going to be conducting an extensive door-to-door survey within the Mulroy Park
neighborhood of South Park. We will then analyze that data which will be used
by our organization for program planning and review. The survey will be done
again in 2015.
For those with sharp eyes, you may have
already seen some of our workers walking and driving around, surveying the
exteriors of properties. Don’t worry, they’re safe – don’t call the cops! This
is another piece of the national project’s aim. We are taking this year’s
survey and observations and using them as a baseline or starting point. When we
re-survey the area in two years, we want to be able to show how much we’ve
impacted the neighborhood in a healthy and happy manner.
In the next couple of weeks, we are going to
be sending a letter to more specific households that have been randomly
selected to participate. If your schedule doesn’t permit a face-to-face
interview, we are going to provide a link to do your survey online or a phone
number to do your survey with our VISTA, Megan! If you receive one of our
notices, don’t hold anything back when it’s your time to share. The issues you
bring up can help re-shape the neighborhood within two years.
