Homebuyer Education for Everyone!

We are proud to now offer homebuyer education! We offer several different options to fit your schedule and educational needs. There are three basic types: Homebuyer Clubs, Homebuyer Education (eight-hour) courses, and Fast Track Education (four-hour) classes. The pricing for each of the three class types is the same. It is $60 per person per course and $75 per couple per course. Additionally, we are currently offering a $10 off coupon! You must be pre-registered for all Homebuyer Education courses. Keep reading for descriptions on each of the three types and the schedules for each!
Homebuyer Clubs
Homebuyer Clubs combine education and a support system into one. The clubs are geared toward people, couples and families who face obstacles to homeownership that cannot be resolved in a relatively short period of time. The basic curriculum for Homebuyer clubs is the same for Homeownership Education workshops, but the material is spread out over a longer period of time. This additional time helps families correct any credit problems, time to reduce debts, or time to save money for the down payment and closing costs on a home. The participants in our clubs are not only informed of the changes that are needed; they are given tools, the group’s support, and on-going support from our housing counselor in order to help them reach their goal. The classes are taught by our housing counselor in our offices on weeknights.

First Home Club
This isn’t an educational track, but another of our services being offered. Clients wishing to participate in this program will enroll in our education classes and create a savings account in a bank affiliated with The Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) of New York’s First Home Club. For every $1 deposited into the savings account, the bank will match with $4 in loan funds, for a total match of up to $7,500. The combined funds then go toward down-payment and closing costs for buying a home. For more information on qualifying for the program, please look at the requirements on FHLBNY's website.
To register for any of our classes or participate in First Home Club, please call our housing counselor, Pamela Tait-Kwiatkowski at (716) 823-3630 x109 or stop on in to our 1937 South Park Avenue office.
